St. Marcelline Bible Study

New Program about to kick off

St. Marcelline Bible Study is set to begin an all-new study series entitled“ A Biblical Walk through The Mass”

When and Where?

Program kicks off Monday January 9th at 7:30 P.M. in the Family Room.

What’s it about?

Taking part in this seven-week study you will discover the scriptural basis for our Catholic liturgy – the major parts of the Mass, the prayers, the gestures, the postures, the responses.

Get More out of the Mass

You’ll gain a deepened understanding of why we do what we do and say what we say during Mass, and how every facet of our worship is rooted in Holy Scripture.

You’ll view the liturgy in a new light and come away with a richer, more powerful worship experience.

Study Materials you’ll receive

Utilizing the newly revised translation of the Roman Missal that went into effect this Advent, you will be provided with a 160 page study text, and a 36 page student workbook.

What’s the cost?

A twenty dollar fee for the study materials will apply, but don’t let the cost keep you from attending. We have a contingency plan to help anyone who needs assistance.

How do I sign up?

Just email  Send us your name and contact info OR just show up Monday January 9th at 7:30 PM in the Family Room. More than forty people have registered so far.  Come join us.  All are welcome!

A brief history of St. Marcelline Study

Bible study has been offered at St. Marcelline for the past eleven years.  Meeting on Monday nights from September through May of each year, we generally take the second Monday of each month off.  We also keep in touch with our members via our email “Mid Week Connection” which is sent out every Thursday.

Our most recent study, completed just before Christmas, was entitled “Bible Basics – Everything you always wanted to know about the Bible...but were afraid to ask.”

Previous Studies

Some examples of previous studies undertaken during our eleven-year history include:

  • Luke’s gospel
  • Acts of the Apostles
  • Mathew’s Gospel – the King and His Kingdom
  • The Rapture – contrasting Catholic Amillenialism with premillenialism of “Left Behind” fundamentalist protestants
  • Revelation – the Apolcalypse
  • The Great Adventure Bible Timeline – Selected from the 73 books of the Bible, this study focuses on 14 narrative books which relate God’s active role in human history – giving us the “big picture” of God’s plan – salvation history from the Garden of Eden, beginning with one holy couple, and progressing through one holy family, one holy tribe, one holy nation culminating in the incarnation, death and resurrection of Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom on earth, the one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

What’s Next

Once we have concluded our latest study “A Biblical Walk Through the Mass”, we will once again embark upon “the Great Adventure Bible Timeline” described above.

But I don’t know anything about the Bible

That’s why we have Bible Study!  The atmosphere of our studies is more like a large congenial family gathering rather than a formal classroom situation.  It is warm and friendly – new members quickly feel right at home.

Bible Study is a great way for Catholic Christians to get together and share our faith, while at the same time learning more about God’s plan for us; and what it means to be Catholic.

Come, give it a try! You won’t be sorry.
