Our Parish History

St. Marcelline

In 1966, Father Charles Diemer was asked by Cardinal John Cody to build a catholic community of people in remote Schaumburg, Illinois. He was also asked to build a church for their worship on a 10-acre site in a field off of Springinsguth Road. When this request came to fruition, St. Marcelline Catholic Church was established.

With no catholic school, Father Diemer had to rely on his people to educate their own children in the faith. He formed teams of adults, trained them and sent them out to share their own faith with our children. Father Diemer was the beginning, the foundation, the core of what was to come in the next 35-plus years.
